Malvaceae Sida fallax


  • Hawaiian name = ilima
  • red/golden flower honored in song
  • Queen Emma and Princess Kaiulani favored the ilima lei
  • Also used by early Hawaiians medicinally
    • chewing buds alleviates thirst and relieves birth pains
